Cynthia Cox Walsh
Senior Consultant
Cynthia’s career path in the non-profit sector began with direct program work at an AIDS service organization. This experience instilled in her the value of effective marketing and fundraising in sustaining program impact.
Fueled by a growing passion for strategic resource development, she entered part-time fundraising, which solidified her love for special events, grant writing, and annual appeal campaigns. Later, as Associate Director at a renowned botanical garden, she learned about the importance of capital campaigns and major gift programs. This experience also underscored the power of collaboration within teams and across departments. It was here that she grasped the magic formula: strong board engagement coupled with creative development and marketing are the key to unlocking capital, endowment, and operating funds.
Recognizing the unique needs of nonprofits seeking temporary development support, she established Cox Walsh & Associates in 2007 to provide organizations with seasoned professionals who deeply understand fundraising ethics, strategic planning, and relationship management. The firm meticulously matches individuals with the right cultural fit and expertise,
ensuring they have in-depth knowledge of the local donor base, software systems, media landscape, and tracking mechanisms. Moreover, CWA prioritizes its ability to
integrate with staff, board members, and donors, fostering the connections that drive sustainable growth.
